Author's IntroductionThank you for visiting this site. I had braces for several years, since the beginning of 1994. Starting with an awkward "medium opening activator" , I progressed through many different appliances, including fixed braces, a fixed palette arch and a hybrid twin block expander appliance. Sometimes I was told that my next treatment would be a certain kind of brace, but I was apprehensive, as I couldn't find out exactly what it looked like or how it felt wearing it. The Braces Knowledge Base was created to solve these problems. This site has been made with you, current or future braces wearers, in mind... I am committed to showing all the braces that are available from the small and unnoticeable to the slightly more scary. On each braces section I have included one or many pictures of the braces type, so future wearers of that type of brace can see what's involved, and also see if there is an alternative which might be easier for the patient. On most of the Braces pages you can add comments, descriptions or stories of your braces to share with the rest of the world. You can even add a video of your braces for others to see. I have made a few little programs to run in the background and update all the submitted messages automatically onto the page they were placed on. This means that the website can grow with messages from many different people to reflect the true experience of having a particular type of braces. I have also included an encylopedia and glossary of many orthodontic and dental terms, so you might be able to understand some of the jargon during your next orthodontic appointment. Drop me an e-mail if you want. I always love getting your e-mails, and I read them all. Thanks for reading this, now explore the site! |
