MAddie () - 24/Oct/2002 7:17:01 AM

Terry (daisymae@gra.midco.net) - 14/Nov/2002 10:11:51 PM

What do they use to take the brackets off of the teeth?
Allie () - 17/Nov/2002 12:10:48 AM

I had this dont 3 days ago
() - 17/Nov/2002 12:58:02 AM

This looks painful!!!
() - 19/Nov/2002 2:34:01 AM

They use a special pliers to take the brackets off. When they put them on they just put blue stuff on your teeth and then a gentle acid. Then they put the brackets on. Then they use this laser light to dry the cement. By the way this cement tastes aful!
() - 25/Nov/2002 12:36:35 PM

wont ur mounth feel sore?
(peachyjennfr@aol.com) - 30/Nov/2002 4:55:16 AM

what if the surface of your tooth is rounded how will they place a bracket on your tooth
() - 11/Dec/2002 10:08:21 PM

Can you feel them place the brackets on when You are wearing a lip expander?
() - 18/Dec/2002 3:15:43 AM

No you can't feel them put the brackets on but you do know they are doing something because you can feel it on your tooth just like cold Ice cream. If your tooth is rounded they put a clear filler
() - 18/Dec/2002 3:56:39 AM

Whats it like when they take the lip expander out of you mouth and you get to feel all that metal for the first time!!!!!!!!!!
ELa (notelling) - 20/Dec/2002 4:24:37 AM

I'm getting braces in only 7 days!!! YAY!! And I am SO glad I won't have 2 wear headgear!
() - 20/Dec/2002 4:40:11 AM

When was the first time you got to see your mouth full of metal?
Ela (ela90@mail.ev1.net) - 28/Dec/2002 2:50:53 AM

2 day I got braces...when the ortho was putting on my braces,I didn't know that she was ACTUALLY putting on the brackets. I looked into a mirror and I saw my whole mouth filled with metal!! It was so sudden that it was scary!! :0
Ela () - 29/Dec/2002 4:07:18 PM

I got light purple n light blue. And i wrote the procedure on the "coloured bands" page.(It's at the bottom)
() - 29/Dec/2002 10:23:02 PM

ELA whats it like going out into public for the first time with you new BRACES?
Ela () - 30/Dec/2002 12:19:51 AM

Yes,I can still feel the brackets on my teeth. I feel like I have a mouthful of metal! When I went out into the public for the first time,it felt different. I had all that metal in my mouth...and there is a hook on 4 of my brackets. They're really small. It's for my elastics that I'm going to get later on.
() - 30/Dec/2002 2:22:50 AM

ELA So you have 4 hooks? Who was the first person that got to see you in your new braces? What did they think? Did anyone else say anything?
() - 30/Dec/2002 2:23:53 AM

ELA Let us know the minute you cannot feel the metal brackets anymore. It took me a week! Do they hurt a lot now.
Ela () - 30/Dec/2002 3:19:24 AM

The first person that saw me in my braces was my mom. She thought they looked nice. I thought they looked wierd :0 My sister was always saying "Let me see". And ok,I'll let you know when I can't feel the brackets anymore. They really hurt on the second day! And sometimes the pain goes away and sometimes it comes back. :(
() - 31/Dec/2002 1:49:58 AM

It will be like this for the next 4 years!
Ela () - 31/Dec/2002 2:27:42 AM

No, it won't! I don't even have to wear the braces that long...only for 2 years!
() - 02/Jan/2003 8:26:01 PM

Mine hurt that bad every month they tighten them for the whole time i have them!
Ela () - 03/Jan/2003 2:21:13 AM

To whoever was asking me:I can't feel the brackets anymore! It's been 5 days since I got the braces :)
() - 07/Jan/2003 1:11:44 AM

Thanks ela IT will never feel normal to not wear braces again. Wearing braces is now the normal feel.
Pat () - 11/Jan/2003 9:23:46 PM

What is debonding and how is it done?
ELa () - 14/Jan/2003 3:12:01 AM

Debonding is when they take the braces off your teeth...but I don't know how it's done
() - 14/Jan/2003 3:58:55 PM

this hurts soo much! i had my wires put on today, and my mouth feels swollen from the things they put on the back teeth, i hate pain to my teeth, i shake everytime i go near a dentist, i hate pain, and this is soo painful...im also having trouble atchually eating, wich is annoying coz im trying to put weight on and i know im gonna end up loosing weight and being unhealthy, does anyone have an solutions to eatinf and stuff? my orthodontist didnt give me any wax, is thta normal, or shall i ask for some s my back teeth are rubing my mouth..ouch!! anyway bye xx
() - 16/Jan/2003 4:01:50 AM

You can pretty much eat everything you ate before. Just remember that if it was difficult to eat before (like tough or sticky or chewy) then it's going to be 10 times worse with your braces! It's not too bad...I still have the same diet. Plus, you're better off gettin ur own wax...they have lots of yummy flavors. Your ortho sounds a little strange...might want to get a 2nd opinion!
LAH () - 09/Feb/2003 3:54:48 PM

I just got braces and I am not pleased by the discomfort that I am facing, which I know will payoff later. How long does it take before they get comfortable? Is it true that the clear bands turn yellow. I have white now and its too visible. What colors do you guys suggest?
Rika () - 09/Feb/2003 8:53:38 PM

i got braces in december of 2002 and it didnt hurt not one bit like everyone said it would and it didnt hurt 2 or 3 dayz later like people said it juts didnt hurt.period. not even when they tightened them.
Rika () - 09/Feb/2003 8:55:47 PM

i recomemend hot pink! its sooo cute(to me)even though red is my fav color
Justin () - 11/Feb/2003 2:39:15 AM

I'm getting braces in 17 days, I am anxious!
() - 20/Feb/2003 4:33:57 AM

on a 1-10 scale 1 being the lowest 10 being the highest how much do braces hurt
Rika () - 23/Feb/2003 5:20:17 AM

i would say a 1 cause it didnt hurt the only bad part is when they but that sour stuff on your teeth...ohhhh...that stuff is soo nasty!
() - 25/Feb/2003 2:41:00 AM

My bother had braces. he told me He would givethem a 10+ Because the wires stick out
() - 25/Feb/2003 2:44:57 AM

I got braces last week. I got glow in the dark
Jade () - 02/Mar/2003 6:59:45 PM

When they put your brace on, is it real hard to swallow? I have this thing and i can't not swallow for a long time, i HAVE to swallow. If i can't, i go all panicky and start flapping like a chicken! Please reply QUICKLY!!! Thanx
Rainier () - 03/Mar/2003 10:19:04 AM

No its not hard to swallow the worst part about eating is when your teeth feel sore because of the tightening of the braces... You'll find that when your teeth are agitated that you will chew slower and just hope for the pain to go away! But just push on true and within 2 years or depending on your treatment you'll have the braces off! Besides best thing about it you get straight teeth!!!
Stacy (smiley_7755@hotmail.com) - 10/Mar/2003 7:49:37 PM

I'm getting braces in an hour and a half! I'm getting hot pink though. :D But I have to have two appointments that are a week apart to let something dry? My ortho didn't give me too much info on that, I guys I'll find out soon.
em () - 13/Mar/2003 6:12:33 PM

I am having my clear braces fitted next week:-S. Any tips? like should I eat after I had them fitted or wait a few hours? Anything about having them fitted would be helpful at all anything at all as I am really nearvous. Also I have 2 have a tooth out in a few months and am terrified of needles any ideas how 2 over come this? Thanks 4 your help.:-)
Severed () - 17/Mar/2003 9:16:54 AM

Well Em, my best advice is to stay calm... having them fitted should not hurt. Bonding doesn't hurt, the only annoying part is when they draw back your lips. In fact, during the bonding process, I almost went to sleep. For the first week though, tylenol and advil help for soreness as well as wax. As for the tooth pulling thing... I'm sorry that I can't really help you out on that, since I have never had any teeth pulled. Good luck.
Em () - 17/Mar/2003 6:50:39 PM

Thanks Severed. Thats has really helped. I will tell u how I got on when I go on wednesday.:-SJust got 2 be brave. Only a new experience. Will get used 2 it. well hopefully and if not it is only 4 the maximum of a year.
Severed () - 17/Mar/2003 9:22:34 PM

Hey, no problem. I look forward to hearing your story. Good luck on Wednesday.
(ahmayz@yahoo.com) - 19/Mar/2003 12:59:38 AM

is there a special glue for bonding? What is the name? how long do they last? and how does the orthodontist or the procedure to remove braces link toyour page?
Severed () - 19/Mar/2003 5:56:02 AM

Yes it is a special glue called "light cure" and it dries under light. Well, it lasts like... until braces break off or your orthodontist removes them. For removing, the orthodonist removes your brackets with special pliers and than takes off the light cure glue, but I still have stains from that glue. Than impressions are taken for a retainer. I hope that helped.
Em () - 19/Mar/2003 6:37:18 PM

Me again. Had them fitted. Don't know what all the fuss is about. He held my lip back and fitted the brackets. Only took about 10 mintues if that and but the wire on. Have do u keep the wax on? I can't get mine 2 stick. I keep thinking it's the bracket coming off. So if anyone read this and are having a brace fitted. Don't worry. It don't hurt, mouths not sore. The only problem I am having is keeping my lip over them.
Severed () - 19/Mar/2003 8:15:37 PM

Yeah, my lips felt really puffy too, and occasionally they would get stuck. I'm surprised that it only took 10 minutes for you, do you have a full set of braces?
Kaz (gyimmy_babe@hotmail.com) - 20/Mar/2003 10:13:53 AM

I wan't to know if i need braces. I have huge spaces and my front teeth have started growing over each other (4mm)
Em () - 20/Mar/2003 6:33:39 PM

No I haven't had all of them fitted I only need the round things on my back teeth fitted and I think 4 more brackets. But if he is as quick 2 fit the front it won't take long. Kaz it depends on how u feel. Mine don't over lap much just I didn't feel go with them looking like that. How long till u noticed your teeth moving? I did in 24 hours. My tooth stuck out and when I woke up the next morning it was next 2 my other tooth. NO GAP:-)
() - 20/Mar/2003 11:06:38 PM

thanks for your reply, Severed-it helped. little apprehensive about glue-it looked messy and appeared oozing out underneath the braces even if the glue was dried up.
Stacy () - 22/Mar/2003 5:25:30 PM

I got my wires on Wednesday, and my mouth is soooo incredibly sore. I;ve had nothing but problems with my braces. One of the elastics came off of a really crooked tooth, and so I went back to the dentist to get it fixed because the wire was really loose, and he tried to put the elastic on but the bracket popped off. So next month we're gonna fix that by putting another bracket on. How long will my mouth remain sore? Advil isn't working. I hate these things in my mouth. Especially the molar bands, they hurt the worst.
Severed () - 23/Mar/2003 12:24:01 AM

Wow, you sound like me, LOL. It hurt really bad for me too. They took at least a month for me to get used to completely. The soreness went away for me in three weeks. My elastic "doughnuts" popped out after 5 weeks. Well as for the bands in the back, are the hooks bothering you? They bothered me too, try using wax. If you don't have some, ask your orthodontist. Maybe you need something wronger than Advil for the pain. Maybe Ibuprofen or even sometimes I need vicodin. Good luck.
Rika () - 23/Mar/2003 7:11:33 PM

i find that is is very interesting that people have al these problems with their braces. I have had my braces since december of 2002 and i havent had any of this "pain" or "soreness" that people talk about, not even when i get them tightened. the only prob i had was when i got hit in the mouth with a bal that shit hurt bad..lol
Stacy () - 25/Mar/2003 2:20:08 AM

Yeah the molar bands are cutting my tongue lol. I'm used to my right molar band because I got it first and they couldn't fit the other one on. But the left one makes me jaw close weird and I can't bite down all the way and argh I hate them. My mouth doesn't hurt as bad today but still hurts. I have ortho wax but it's nasty lol. And I haven't been taking advil or anything lol I should eh? It might help. But the only problem is, is that advil makes me sleepy lol.
Justin () - 25/Mar/2003 9:47:29 PM

Stacy, you like the word lol alot, huh? I am going in in and hour to my first tightening appointment. I am not scared, It depends on your tolerance of pain. I have a high tolerance.
Stacy () - 26/Mar/2003 11:14:25 PM

Yes I do like the word....lol. I'm known to say it a lot, also laugh a lot, and smile a lot heehee. What do they do when they tighten them? Just take the wire out and put another one in? Guess what! I CAN CHEW GUM AGAIN! I'm so happy. My molars don't hurt anymore. :D There IS hope! Stacy :)
rika () - 27/Mar/2003 3:56:52 AM

yeah all they do is put in a new wire
Justin () - 27/Mar/2003 4:06:21 AM

Well, i had 3 broken brackets, they just had to fix that, then they change your colored thingies, but it kinda hurts cuz they yank them off. Then they poked me in the cheek with the wire when putting in a new wire. But it didn't hurt that bad. I can have 1/2 stick of gum, thats it. BUT I CAN'T WAIT TO GET MY BRACES OFF!
Rika () - 28/Mar/2003 2:48:44 AM

didnt u just get ur braces on? u got a while buddy
() - 29/Mar/2003 8:04:29 PM

When i got my brackets on they opened my mouth wide and covered my tounge with these blocker things so i couldn't taste the light cure. Then the ortho put a plate in my mouth with all the brackets in it and pressed it on for about 3 minutes. He did the same for the bottom teeth also. They did not use any laser light or anything. It didn't hurt at all. It has been about 2 weeks since i got my braces on and i stopped noticing them about a week ago.It really hurt from the 2nd through the 5th day. Advil didn't help either. Wax really helped and it stuck pretty well. I have a question. Can u chew gum, because i didn't notice it but somebody gave me gum and i just popped it in adn it did not get caught in my brackets? If u chew gum is it gonna take longer to get your braces off? I noticed the shifting of my teeth about a week after i got my braces on. Is this normal?
Rika () - 30/Mar/2003 5:25:14 AM

yes it is normal 2 notice ur teeth movin already. i noticed it like 1 day after i got my braces. my ortho says to eat sugar-free gum but i eat anything so yeah i think gum is cool
Em () - 30/Mar/2003 5:08:51 PM

I notic mine had moved after 1 day and haven't moved since. U can't chew gum as it go around your brackets and helps them come off and a nightmare cleaning them.
Rika () - 30/Mar/2003 11:07:59 PM

WELL, whenever I eat gum it doesnt get stuck and it doesnt hple the brackets to come off so their is nothing to clean. plus mr ortho said i canea gum. just it gotta be suga free but so i dont care
Stacy () - 31/Mar/2003 3:33:46 AM

You can chew gum, except don't put it on the front of your teeth or it WILL get stuck. (Speaking form experience) But if it does get stuck, just brush your teeth.
Rika () - 13/Apr/2003 11:03:59 PM

Braces aren't that bad. They don't bother me
( ) - 21/Apr/2003 3:01:04 AM

Gum is a greater threat to your molar bands, not to the brackets. It yanks at the cement. Most brackets are Wayyy stronger than the gum.
() - 24/Apr/2003 2:28:25 PM

how mich does it cost to get the brackets on your braces fixed
Lou (loushaw3@hotmail.com) - 25/Apr/2003 8:11:42 AM

Does it hurt when they get the braces off with the special pliers thingy? Im getting mine off in 24 days and can't wait :-) Also does it hurt a couple of hours after getting them removed like it does after they tighten them?
Em () - 25/Apr/2003 6:16:52 PM

I am not sure but my m8 has had braces and she was nearvous about having them off. She said they take the molar rings off and then they all just come off in a row. Hope that helps a bit.
stephy () - 28/Apr/2003 10:26:20 PM

hey em i'm not shur about that. i got my braces off and they take em off one by one. it doesn't hurt at all. and when you put ur lips back on ur teeth it feels like they took off you teeth too but they are still there. it's weird!!!
lucy () - 29/Apr/2003 3:46:54 AM

they fill uncomfortable but youll get used to it
Em () - 29/Apr/2003 6:14:11 PM

Thats ok Just sayin what my m8 said. I can't wait 4 mine 2 come off just got 2 have more on first but the hard bits over.(Having my tooth out):-)
natalie (kissasschick6@hotmail.com) - 06/May/2003 4:30:07 PM

what is put on first when u have your first treatment of having your braces put on as i am having mine put on tomorrw
Em () - 06/May/2003 6:28:07 PM

The first thing they do is take a mould, then a picture. They then rub something on the centre of your teeth which is the glue. Then add the bracket. Next they will put a blue light in your mouth 2 set the glue. Thats all it is. U don't feel a thing. Well u can feel them doing something but not hurting u. They then put the wire on. Thats is the worse bit because they are pulling and u want 2 follow them with your head but it's not painful at all. They just feel very odd and horrible 4 about a week. Then u start 2 get used 2 them. I am having my tightened tomorrow so I will think of u while I am having mine done:-)
() - 07/May/2003 5:12:58 PM

I am gettng braces in a few week in June actually and I am scared. Does it hurt and will I have to have teeth take Out? Sorry for bothering you!
Em () - 07/May/2003 6:13:05 PM

Well I don't know if u need teeth taken out but from what I know most people do have 2 have some out. I have had 2 have 2 out. 1 at the top and 1 at the bottom. I was scared but it didn't hurt at all just felt odd because I have never have braces. Your teeth will feel sort of bruised for a few days. Not painful. I find the cleaning the hardest bit but tighting is fine just pulls a lot but doesn't hurt u.
To Em () - 08/May/2003 6:43:47 AM

Thanx Em! U R Great! Oh yeah what colours look nice
Em () - 08/May/2003 5:08:06 PM

I don't know about colours as I wanted mine not to be noticable so went for the ceramic ones. So u will have 2 choose that bit:-)
To Em () - 09/May/2003 11:37:13 AM

Kay thanx Em! U rule!
scary () - 31/May/2003 5:54:14 PM

Hello, i have had my braces on for a year and my dentist says i can have them off. YAY! but i dont no how they7 do it and wont it pull the enamal off my teeth? please help xxxxxxxx
Em () - 01/Jun/2003 6:04:05 PM

No idea what pilers are:-S It shouldn't take the enamal off your teeth. If it did it would be a waste of time having braces. No idea how they come off but more than likely come off just as easy as they went on.
Brace Face ;>) () - 01/Jun/2003 8:25:45 PM

Hey, HELP!! I've got a Hybrid Twinblock Expander, which I'm hopefully getting off soon. Is there any chance that I can get this brace instead of yet another retainer? From what I've read, everyone seems 2 find these really comfortable. What I've got at the mo is completely uncomfortable. Please someone offer me some advice quick. HELP!!!!!!!
() - 06/Jun/2003 4:36:37 PM

getting full set of braces in 11 days!!! i'm getting green and blue!! can't wait to get them!!!! getting spacers in 4 days!!!!
Trisha (bAbYgUrL87053@cs.com) - 06/Jun/2003 7:45:43 PM

Hey everyone!! I was just wanting to know... when you first get ur braces on does it hurt to smile or talk? doesn't it feel weird to talk with these rubber bands controlling your mouth? LOL ;)
() - 07/Jun/2003 11:29:29 PM

gettin' braces in 10 days!!!!
Em () - 08/Jun/2003 5:02:05 PM

The only rubber bands I have is on each bracket to hold the wire in place. They don't hurt at all but if u mean the ones from your top brace to your bottom which are fitted at the back then sorry I don't know as I don't have them. When I first got mine I was expecting a mouth full of metal but I could still talk and was suppose to put wax on but never bothered and it hasn't hurt me. Just use a lot of lip balm as I have found my lips get quite dry.
stephy () - 08/Jun/2003 8:49:40 PM

hey trisha! to answer your question it is kind of weird the first time yo have your elastic(s). i only had one for two months. if you just talk, you can't feel it that much, but when you yawn, you can really feel it. but it doesn't hurt, depending on how much you are wearing.
() - 12/Jun/2003 4:15:36 AM

can someone just very very descriptively describe what braces feel like in your mouth. I want braces so bad, but cant have them. Just tell me what they are like?
Em () - 12/Jun/2003 6:39:21 PM

Why can't u have braces? If u need them then u can have them. They feel odd. But now I have had mine for 3 months it would feel odd with out them as your mouth toughens up to them as my dentist says. When they are first on u think I have got these for so long and all the bits to clean and your lip sticks out. But really they just feel like if u put your tounge infront of your teeth but it is there all the time. Don't hurt at all apart from the tightening.
james () - 14/Jun/2003 2:18:47 AM

just got mine on 2day top and bottom and i have 2 go bak in 2weeks 2 have bands put on i cant wait. braces rule and thats the bottom line bcause i say so.
Em () - 14/Jun/2003 5:44:55 PM

They are pretty cool. Don't like them but the end affect is the best.
Kylie () - 15/Jun/2003 8:14:30 AM

hi guys, well, i got my braces put on friday and they did it a different way to what i expected. 3 days prior i went in and they look moulds of my teeth and put the separators and on friday they had these clear retainer like things with the brackets placed in there. they tried the retainer thing on me to see how it fit, then prepared my teeth for bonding then put the retainer thing on, used that uv light thing to set the glue then peeled the plastic away to leave the brackets in place. i expected them to put each bracket in separately... has anyone else had their brackets applied this way? it seemed to be quicker than if each bracket was placed on separately.
Em () - 15/Jun/2003 5:49:34 PM

No I had mine put on separately. But it only took 10 minutes to do my bottom teeth. The nurse had everthing ready for him and he has been doing it for about 30 years so I guess he knows what he is doing. I didn't know they could do that with a plastic sort of retainer.
Rika () - 15/Jun/2003 7:10:50 PM

i've heard of them being put on that way but i have never known anybody personally that had them put on this way
Christina (stinaalicia@aol.com) - 11/Jul/2003 2:47:07 AM

I had all my brackets put on seperatly and I've never had moulds made of my mouth. I just got my braces on yesterday and it only took about 15 mintues total to put on the brackets and maybe 10 to put on the bands.
Em () - 14/Jul/2003 6:09:30 PM

I was just wondering. Does anyone know how they take the brackets off? Is it as easy as they put them on? Or more painful?
tina () - 14/Jul/2003 9:58:52 PM

its pretty easy putting them on but it hurts afterwards and i got mine taken off once and then got them back on...they take these plier looking things and they snap it off it sounds really painful and they dentist pressing on it is painful but its not all that bad it hurts when they take the band off tho...the ones in the back of ur mouth...and i dont see why any one would want braces cuz they suck and they hurt like hell...when ur sleeping and it rubs on to your lips it makes like these yello and red blisters...gosh i hate those and dont bother using the wax it never really works!
Tina () - 14/Jul/2003 10:04:57 PM

oh and also i've had my braces for 5 years going on 6 in august...its taking so long cuz when they take the braces off my teeth get crocked even with the retainer and then i got my bottom braces off but they got crocked and i just got new bottom braces last monday...if you dont have braces consider your self lucky, i have been going through torture for sooo long! im getting them off again next year pray to god it will work this time! and pain is 10+10+10+10+10+10+10!!!
Em () - 15/Jul/2003 6:24:43 PM

Er thanks. Thats really helped. HELP.
Erika (bombastic_baby88@hotmail.com or @yahoo.com) - 15/Jul/2003 9:53:48 PM

Well people, I'm back! I've been away on vacation but here's an update on my story. I went in to the ortho. on June 30th and got my mold, xrays and all my before pictures. And can you belive that the only open dates they have are the 2nd and the 8th?...in SEPTEMBER! Well I'm going for my spacers on the 2nd and my braces on the 8th. They say I could have my braces anywhere from 22-26 months.Hopefully 22 or 23...that way I'll have them off right before my Senior year! And getting the mold wasn't as bad as I thought. Someone told me it was like putting cement over your teeth. it depends on who you go to I guess. Well mine felt like they put silly puddy over my teeth. Well theres my update hope to talk to ya'll soon!
Em () - 18/Jul/2003 6:37:10 PM

Did u have a nice holiday? I had my moulds and photos taken just before my brace was fitted. I must of been lucky if it is as bad as everyone says 2 get them fitted.

Emma () - 18/Aug/2003 6:47:45 AM

hey guys ive read the chat and i know i need braces..........my teth are reletivly straight but my left front tooth it trying to push out... anyway my mom says we should wait a few years!!! that couldmean longer treatment..... I dont mind needing braces but longer treatment i do mind... help!
Erika () - 18/Aug/2003 9:34:49 PM

Emma, how old are you? If you are like 15 or younger start now! If you get it done when you are older, you'll be in more pain, talk to your mom about it, ask her if you insurance plan covers it.
Kylie () - 19/Aug/2003 12:41:58 AM

how old you are doesn't affect how much pain you will be in. infact, i'm 22, and i have hardly had any pain in my first 2 months. it all depends on your treatment, and how much teeth need to be moved.
() - 19/Aug/2003 4:01:31 PM

it may not be as painful but it will be a longer process because when you are younger your mouth is growing and your teeth are moving.
Kylie () - 20/Aug/2003 1:23:46 AM

even though i'm older, i'm much happier now i'm getting braces, it will be worth it in the long term, and in my case, they look out 8 teeth, including all 4 wisdom teeth, so when my treatment is over at least i know my wisdom teeth won't come though and wreck all that hard work! don't umm and ahh about getting braces, coz it's worth it in the end!
Kylie () - 20/Aug/2003 1:25:05 AM

i've actually had my braces for 2 months, and i've still got probably 2 years ago... i don't really care if the treatment is longer now than if i had braces 10 years ago, coz it may have only been shorter by a few months.
Kiswana () - 24/Aug/2003 6:35:27 PM

Do they put you to sleep when you get braces or what and if they don't does it hurt
Erika () - 24/Aug/2003 9:07:51 PM

haha no, they dont dont put you too sleep, its a painless procedure you will only feel pain after the braces are on and you are out of the office.
Katie (i_luv_beckham789@hotmail.com) - 30/Aug/2003 5:30:59 PM

I have got to have some kind of bands put on my teeth in about a month, wot r these? Do u have 2 av any injections when you have your brace fitted? plz reply soon, Katie
() - 31/Aug/2003 9:46:59 PM

bands are on your bottom back teeth. they don't hurt at all. and no you don't get any injections when getting braces because you don't feel a thing and therefore it would be pointless.it really doesn't hurt at all. it may feel sore for the first couple of days depending on your teeth condition. it didn't hurt me at all. so you never know
Erika () - 31/Aug/2003 11:13:34 PM

I'm so psyched everyone! I get my fixed braces on Sept. 8th. (7 days...i dont include today and the day of) I'll talk to ya'll tuesday after I get my spacers!
Can't wait for braces () - 02/Sep/2003 12:23:56 AM

I went last summer for my first time, had to get 2 teeth pulled. And basicly over the last year I went back 4 times and had xrays done 4 times, a mold done 1 time, and had to have 4 more teeth pulled. Then I went back last month, and I have to get 2 MORE teeth pulled and I should get braces in Jan. 2004. Sorry about the long message.
Erika () - 02/Sep/2003 11:29:44 PM

i had my braces fitted today, iam in no pain!! but am told my teeth wil start to hurt tomorrow, i find that the wax is hard to stick and stay on, it keeps coming off and my cheeks just feel a little sore i thought braces would be a whole lot worse, i am already used to them, all im worrying about now is how to smile for the camera becasue i look stupid when i smile just showing my lips good luck to anyone who is getting braces, and its not as bad as it seems, i just closed my eyes throughout the treatment and before i new it , it was over xxx :)
Erika () - 06/Sep/2003 4:51:11 PM

dont lie and tell ppl that spacers dont hurt. Bcuz for some they do and some they dont. Like me they killed...haha. they get really annoying and your tounge keeps rubbing up against them and it starts to get sore. Than about the 3rd day you get used too the spacers and they stop hurtin you just wish they would fall out already. Well Im going in for my braces on monday...ttyl later! buh bye!
Zoe () - 07/Sep/2003 1:04:19 PM

Rika () - 09/Sep/2003 12:17:53 AM

() - 09/Sep/2003 4:03:03 AM

share the procedure if you want.. dont listen to what they say! and why not share what they feel like...
Zoe () - 09/Sep/2003 8:08:53 PM

Its not exactly thrilling i cant even remember what they did so dont type it! lol. It doesnt hurt....thats about it! It took about 2/3 days b4 i couldnt feel the brackets on the top and only 1 for the bottom
Michelle () - 09/Sep/2003 10:51:50 PM

Erika you can go ahead and type it for those of us who dont have our braces yet. Rika....maybe we dont want to go look at the others! Maybe we don't want to spend all that time go trough the other when Erika can type it and it be at the bottom. Spare me and dont bother writting a message about it.
Erika () - 09/Sep/2003 10:53:57 PM

thanks michelle. go spare urself rika and dont even read what others have too say. This site is where you can share your questions and STORIES...so dont tell me I cant type my procedure.
() - 10/Sep/2003 12:59:39 AM

erika please share with us everything that happened. I want to read it. Make it very long and descriptive!
Erika (MY WHOLE PROCEDURE....EVERY DETAIL!) - 10/Sep/2003 1:27:20 AM

I walked into the doctors office at 8:30 am. I brushed my teeth and they called me back, my mom wished me luck. I was asked too sit down in a chair and she said she would be fitting my molar bands. She only had to fit six because I dont have all 8, two are baby teeth. w/ nothing underneath. Than after she was done fitting we waited 15 minutes for the ortho too come in and check too see if they where ok. Than she took them off and took me out into the bigger room and told me too brush with some red stuff, I guess it was flouride.Than I went back into the room and she cemented my molar bands on with this blue cement. It taisted so nasty I rinsed for 15 minutes.LOL. Than she started too cement the bottom ones on, the doctor came in too check those he said ok and she activated all the cement in my mouth with a blue light(like the kind in a tanning bed)After those where done she cemented my top brackets on...(the cement used this time sorta taisted like nasty old lemons) than we had to wait on the doctor too say they where ok. Than she used the "activator". After she finished putting the brackets on I had to use the restroom. When I came back she did my bottom wire and bands ( i chose silver...which is a yucky color) When she tightened it on my right side it hurt ALOT not so much on the left though. Than she did the top wire and bands.Than she fitted my headgear. This whole procedure took 1 hour and 30 minutes. I didn't feel any pressure until after a few hours. Than I was in major pain. I stayed home from school today from the pain. The pain lightens when I put my headgear on though. Thank you for anyone who did not spare themselves and read this.
Kylie () - 10/Sep/2003 2:13:33 AM

hey erika, just a question about your headgear... (lucky for me i don't have to get it) what sort do you have and how long have you got to wear it for? the day i got my braces on i got pale purple top and bottom, and a few weeks later they had changed to grey!! now i have grey on top, and green on the bottom, and yes, i do think grey makes the brackets look darker!
da 1 and only RIKa () - 10/Sep/2003 5:09:58 AM

blah blah blah!!!!! same same same!!
Stephen (srngl7@aol.com) - 10/Sep/2003 8:22:07 PM

Does your teeth hurt when the brackets are taken off? I heard that it's possible to break the enamel of your tooth. :O
Erika (To Kylie) - 10/Sep/2003 9:23:34 PM

I really don't know what kind of headgear I got...regualr I guess. It straps around your neck and connected to the top 2nd molars.
Erika (P.S.) - 10/Sep/2003 9:31:55 PM

The type of headgear I have it not shown on this website.
ERIKA (never mind!!!) - 10/Sep/2003 9:36:03 PM

Yes it is on this website under cervical headgear!
