Aligners/Invisalign Appliances

If you have aligners, they will be re-moulded every 2 weeks or so and are changed to model the teeth in a better position, the pressure from the brace causes the teeth to move. They have the advantage of being apparently invisible, and so are better for more self-concious paitents. The disadvantage is that the treatment tends to take a little longer than standard fixed braces.
Aligner is the technical name. Invisalign is the trade name.

(marnie_16@hotmail.com) - 26/Nov/2002 3:04:19 AM

I am looking at getting the invisaligner and I wanted to know if there are any major problems with them or if they are as good as the regular braces. Thanks for any info. you can give me.
AVERY () - 04/Dec/2002 10:23:36 PM

I recently had a counciltation for braces. Invisalign was twice the cost of braces because it is so new.
() - 05/Dec/2002 3:18:31 PM

elatedindividual (lilli_17@hotmail.com) - 12/Jan/2003 12:57:03 AM

i just got my teeth imprinted for Invisalign and my treatment starts in February. I'm so excited. If anyone is considering Invisalign, I suggest doing extensive research before hand. Invisalign.com is a good place to start. My treatment costs 3,500 dollars but as we all know...doctors have different price ranges. You can expect to pay between 3,500 to almost 5,000 dollars. Fortunely, my insurance covers some of the cost($1000). Many adults prefer Invisalign over conventional braces, but teens can also take advantage of this new technology.(I'm 16)

I would like more information on invisalign
Straight Teeth () - 26/Jan/2003 9:07:10 PM

I have had a lingual brace put in. My orthodontist says that Invisialign is a fairly new treatment and that it is only suitable for those who have relatively straight teeth, anyone with gaps or overcrowding will not really benefit from this treatment. In Britain this treatment can cost 4000 pounds+ Bye.

() - 02/Feb/2003 5:58:12 PM

the best way is 2 see your dentist. Most are only private. If u have an underbite u can't have these braces. But then again my dentist says 1 thing and the website another. I would get 2 opinons from 2 people that do it. Best if they don't know each other as they just back what ever the other dentist says. Mine said I have 2 have the train tracks but another said I have 2 have elastics so they don't seem 2 know what 2 do.
(audrina_14@yahoo.com) - 07/Feb/2003 9:15:14 PM

How old do you have to be wear these? and do they work as retainers or as braces?
Em () - 08/Feb/2003 1:02:58 PM

They are like retainers but work like braces as u change them every 2 weeks not like having them tighten every 6 weeks. They do take longer to make your teeth straight. I can have a brace for 9 months or these for 2 years so that is the difference. I think you can have them as long as you have all your second teeth and no milk teeth.
Sonia (sonia.ferguson@sunbak.com) - 21/Feb/2003 12:45:29 PM

can you tell me how much this costs and is it available in the uk?
Em () - 21/Feb/2003 7:18:43 PM

Yes it is avalible in the uk and is about £3000-£6000 4 one set of teeth(top or bottom)And also not everone can have it. I couldn't because of my bite. It also takes double the time of braces to make your teeth straight. The web site is wrong saying it takes the same length of time as the person I saw who does this said that. Hope that helps.
Evangelise (Evycute@aol.com) - 25/Feb/2003 12:45:25 AM

Invisaligns make your teeth very yellow
(gracefulgirl01@aol.com) - 16/Mar/2003 4:33:45 PM

How many hours a day should these be worn? In other words, could I take them out for about 5 hours a day while I work and then put them back in for the rest of the day and night?
em () - 16/Mar/2003 4:45:02 PM

No u need these in all the time apart from eating and drinking, brushing and flossing. If u have them out 4 5 hours a day they won't work. Anyway no one an see u have got them because they are clear.
cheerstar () - 29/Mar/2003 8:21:28 PM

Inslavigin does cost a bit more than braces. they take a lot longer to straighten your teeth than with braces but it defenitly worth it.
LittleMathlete () - 16/Apr/2003 5:50:09 AM

I dont know anything about braces... I wish i did because im getting them in 2 months. Anyway, i heard that invisalign isnt very affective and they turn a yellow color very quick even if you do take care of them. Like i said... i dont know anything about it, thats just what i heard.
Em () - 17/Apr/2003 6:25:48 PM

I went 4 invisalign in the first place and because I have an underbite I can't have them. Anyway brackets are a third of the price of these and take have the time more move. So think 1 yeah with brakets or 2 years with invisalign. I know which I would have.
(Manderlue@yahoo.com) - 23/Apr/2003 3:39:06 AM

I work at an orthodontist and they don't tell me any thing about invisalign. Do any of you know if it fixes a deep bite or not? Thanks
Em () - 23/Apr/2003 8:36:33 PM

I don't know what a deep bite is But I know if u have an underbite u can't have them as u wear the plastic away 2 quick when u talk.

Brian Henry (bhenry2030@hotmail.com) - 21/May/2003 1:20:01 AM

Could send me so informationon the invisalign braces. My mailing address is 2030 So. State Apt. 1004 Chicago, IL 60616.
bee (obshop@webtv.net) - 08/Jun/2003 4:24:23 AM

How do you clean these so they don't smell I can't stand it can you use mouthwash to soak them in also can you brush them with toothpaste or will this hurt them, how do you get the plastic taste away?
Em () - 08/Jun/2003 5:13:18 PM

U take them out to clean your own teeth and your orthodentist should give u some special stuff u use to clean in invisalign plastic with.
MMM () - 18/Jul/2003 7:02:32 AM

does invisalign work as braces????
Em () - 18/Jul/2003 6:38:48 PM

Yeah invisalign does work as braces but is expensive and slow moving your teeth. It takes double the time fixed braces does only good thing is u can't see them.
(onlychild_16@yahoo.com) - 22/Jul/2003 5:07:13 AM

I have had braces before and then had a retainer wich i never used, which made my bottom teeth grow crooked again. I was wondering if invisalign really works and is as good as braces? I also need to know if it will put my bottom teeth straight agian and how long before i notice a difference.
Em () - 22/Jul/2003 6:19:53 PM

Invisalign does really work but is really slow. I have got my braces for a year and invisalign would have taken 2 1/2 years. My orthodontist doesn't think u get as good results as u do with braces. I don't know how long till u notice a difference but I would say a while as they move very slowly. U might have to wear a retainer again. So if u didn't wear it the first time will u the second? Oh and It is very expensive.
Bobby () - 28/Jul/2003 6:26:10 PM

Not sure where the "it takes longer" arguments are coming from. Probably orthodontists who aren't Invisalign certified. I'm currently waiting for my Invisalign aligners to arrive. I have a big gap (about 1.5 mm) between my front teeth, and minor crowding on the bottom. My orthodontist is very enthuiastic about Invisalign, and only has me set up for ONE YEAR of treatment. He says the treatment time is comparable to regular braces.
Em () - 29/Jul/2003 6:09:00 PM

Well my orthodontist is invisalign certified as he is on the offical invisalign website, as thats where I found him. Well Mines not like that. Don't want to sound funny but he might be saying that 2 sell it 2 u. As it is triple the price of normal cermaic/clear braces. But thats up 2 u. Just hope u manage 2 keep them in as I know a few peole have got bored and hate the pain so leave them out. Then that doesn't work.
Dustin (papasmurf1353@yahoo.com) - 06/Aug/2003 3:26:54 AM

() - 10/Aug/2003 4:42:35 PM

What is the signficant difference between Invisalign and Red White and Blue options (other than cost )
Rika () - 10/Aug/2003 5:57:12 PM

red white and blue options? what is that?
() - 17/Aug/2003 5:28:57 PM

Can you get this on the NHS, or would you have to go private? Note: If you aren't from the UK, don't bother reading or replying to this message as you won't know what I mean by NHS.
() - 17/Aug/2003 9:50:40 PM

what is NHS?
butterfly2k () - 19/Aug/2003 8:01:29 PM

No no no, i changed my mind. Not the clear retainers, these invialin thinga ma jiggers. I have seen the commercial in months, and I'm finally reunited with them once again! I want these! these! these! these!
butterfly2k () - 19/Aug/2003 8:05:22 PM

actually....im not even sure anymore from what I've read....I'm going the website!
butterfly2k () - 19/Aug/2003 8:29:24 PM

Hey you all dont know anything! Sure Invisalign may cost more than braces but they work as twice as fast, painless, removable, replaceable and everything! They are just like switching from glasses to contacts. The contacts feel wierd for the first few days, but then you dont notice theyre there! That's how invisalign is and it works too!
() - 22/Aug/2003 7:05:10 PM

Are you trying to sell invisalign or something 'butterfly2k'?!!! It takes way longer and cost so much and does not work for every case!
Erika () - 23/Aug/2003 5:59:29 PM

15 days!
() - 30/Aug/2003 6:06:51 PM

i fink that they luk WELL SNAZZY, but they're a little bit ££££££££ dnt u fink????
