Ela (ela90@mail.ev1.net) - 16/Oct/2002 12:40:34 AM

Hi I have one more question-do you have to wear rubber bands on your braces for an overbite??? And is that the only thing you have to wear(along with your braces) for an overbite?
Val () - 16/Oct/2002 7:36:53 PM

yeah u have to where them if u have a like, bad overbite. i mean, i have like a pretty bad overbite and i have to get rubber bands
Ela (ela90@mail.ev1.net) - 17/Oct/2002 3:50:35 AM

I'm glad I just have to wear elastics.... not that creapy headgear stuff
Bruce (ber2432@yahoo.com) - 13/Nov/2002 9:57:57 PM

How can someone get these types of rubber bands?
Ela (ela90@mail.ev1.net) - 15/Nov/2002 1:11:18 AM

Stacy (bumble_1289@yahoo.com) - 08/Dec/2002 4:14:50 AM

i have to wear 3 elastics- for an overbite and crossbite on the little bag their in it has an animal - what does that mean?
allie to ela () - 13/Dec/2002 2:54:58 AM

for an overbite you wear headgear and sometimes elastics
() - 15/Dec/2002 3:41:53 AM

how do you get those cool colors, my ortho only gives out those stupid clear ones that stain
ela to allie () - 18/Dec/2002 11:38:16 PM

Well,I have an overbite and my ortho said that I don't need headgear,ONLY elastics.
Ela (ela90@mail.ev1.net) - 25/Dec/2002 12:39:07 AM

About what time during your procedure will your ortho put on elastics if you need elastics?
() - 27/Dec/2002 4:13:12 AM

My ortho puts elastics on my braces in a ZIG ZAG pattern all the way around my braces I have to take them all out if i want to eat. I can open my mouth about a 1/4 in. It SUCKS ASS. HELP Has anyone heard of this?
Ela () - 28/Dec/2002 2:40:34 AM

zig zag pattern???
() - 28/Dec/2002 3:18:56 AM

Yes a zig zag patern They go from the top to the botom then from the top and bottom again in a zig zag pattern. you can even see them on the internet. Type in final elastics on a search at googel. You will then see!
Ela () - 29/Dec/2002 4:05:11 PM

OK :)
() - 29/Dec/2002 10:20:31 PM

Ela did you go to the website? GO TO IT! ITS REALLY COOL!
Ela () - 30/Dec/2002 12:27:29 AM

P.S. Does the zig zag hurt?
() - 30/Dec/2002 2:19:32 AM

It hurts like hell its the worst thing ever! It looks really cool, weird and funny when you smile but I hurts a lot. Did you go to the website? answer yes or no
() - 30/Dec/2002 2:20:43 AM

It takes a long time to put them in and out 3 times a day just to change them. Then If i want a drink or eat I have to do it again. I have them on the front and on the sides. They go all the way around my mouth.
Ela () - 30/Dec/2002 3:13:05 AM

Whoa! Does everyone have to wear that? And yes, I went to the website. The zig zag was cool but it looked painful!
() - 30/Dec/2002 9:03:08 PM

It is painful
() - 30/Dec/2002 9:04:56 PM

ELA go back to the website and look up the retainers! These are the most stupid thing I have ever seen. I will have to wear them forever. You have to check this part out!
Ela (ela90@mail.ev1.net) - 31/Dec/2002 12:09:38 AM

I saw the retainer :0 Why do u have 2 wear it forever?
() - 31/Dec/2002 1:48:46 AM

I dont know but they wont take it off! They said my teeth might go back to where they were because theyre always moving. I have to wear that stupid rubberband on the top and on the bottom. I have to wear it for 6 months. they will also glue a fixed retainer to the top too. My friend has this and she looks stupid when she smiles because you can see these 4 brackets and 2 big rubber bands across her teeth!
PeAcHYkEeN () - 11/Jan/2003 4:40:54 PM

I wear elastics too, except, only at night and they form a triangle shape at the front part of my mouth. I only have to wear two!
Trevor Williams (popener@hotmail.com) - 14/Jan/2003 7:12:01 AM

I wish I could have rubberbands all around...especially in the front. Do you like your zig-zag pattern?
() - 16/Jan/2003 4:49:49 AM

I'll admit it. I read the board and got curious. That zig zag is jacked up! I'm thanking my luck stars I only have 2 at a time on each side!
() - 16/Jan/2003 9:55:34 PM

It feels great and I like it too but I hate to wear them in public. They are really embarrasing. Imagine someone asking you if want something like a cookie and then You just have to smile and remind them theres no way you could fit it in your mouth without taking all the elastics out. and you have to have a mirror and it takes a lot of time.
Evan (qjjwave@yahoo.com) - 28/Jan/2003 12:58:31 AM

yeah I was pretty luck because my overbite was pretty small so the band formed more of a triangle then a diagonal line. And because I wore it all day, and changed bands at least 3 times a day, I only have to where the bands at night. I suggest to those who are getting bands for the first time should where them often to prevent from having to where this all day for a long time. Evan
() - 02/Feb/2003 5:46:11 PM

I have wonky teeth especially on the bottom and an under bite. Could someone thell me what sort of braces I could have as I have been to 2 dentists and 1 says I don't need any teeth out the other one does and that goes 4 the elastics to. I am confussed.
birdbrainstar@yahoo.com (birdbrainstar@yahoo.com) - 06/Feb/2003 11:44:49 PM

I was wondering if you could take the rubberbands out for school which is 7 hours? Or do you wear them the whole day?
Rika () - 09/Feb/2003 9:52:29 PM

i looked at the zig zag pattern and it looked cool but alot i dont know of i have to get elastics but ill ask my ortho when i got back in 2 days
mike (???) - 22/Feb/2003 10:09:56 PM

hi i had braces fitted 4 days ago and i cant eat properly because 1 it hurts and 2 it feals like something stopping it is this normal?? please reply ..mike..

() - 16/Mar/2003 3:35:20 AM

i don't have an underbite or an over bite. Why do i have to where these then? I only have 8 hooks on my braces and they are in the back of my mouth.
Egle [female] (spyglia@hotmail.com) - 16/Mar/2003 7:10:09 PM

yeah, i have to wear elastics.. rubber bands :) but really i don't know for what is it? who often forgets to change it? ;DD maybe everyone knows how to remember in mornings and evening?
(cheerstar) - 29/Mar/2003 8:57:15 PM

if you have an over bite once you have that fixed you may need a bianator to correct ant type of speech problem that the overbite may have caused.
jus me to birdbrain (tingrin :D) - 31/Mar/2003 2:11:24 AM

i dont think elastics are bad, they feel awesome(mine do anyway, they dont slant they just go up and down on my molars) and you really cant see them unless you got that funky green color! i want those! you still cant see mine i only wear one. hahhaha yay me!
jus me (tingrin :D) - 31/Mar/2003 2:17:12 AM

the zigZags are final elastics, meaning they are FINAL? do you get yo braces off soon?
() - 02/Apr/2003 12:59:33 AM

yeah... they are right at the end of ur braces time
(xnyr08hockyx@netscape.net) - 02/Apr/2003 4:10:09 AM

Rika () - 06/Apr/2003 10:33:50 PM

i have braces and 4 some reason i want these. i heard they hurt from my friends that have already had them but still they look cool and i wanna be able to change teh colors. About how far into your treatment is it b4 getting rubberbands.
Rika () - 06/Apr/2003 10:35:21 PM

als what if u have a crossbite? what does the ortho do?
alex () - 13/Apr/2003 3:31:40 AM

hi! ive had my braces on for 2 months now and my ortho is waiting for my teeth to align before he puts on the elastcs (because i had a really big overbite) he said i wouldnt have to wear headgear but i was wondering if it is possible to have headgear and elastics to make the treatment go faster becuase as of now im looking at a year and a half..and i would REALLY like it if i could get them off in a year =) any tips?
Rika () - 13/Apr/2003 11:10:13 PM

Why don't you just ask your otho and she what he/she says...I don't know how much faster headgear will able you to get your braces off but go and see
Amanda () - 15/Apr/2003 3:06:09 PM

I wish I could get the lime green colored elastics. They would match my braces right now! lol I got new hooks added right on to the wire. Now the rubberbands are attached right next to my front teeth going all the way to the bottom band!
Gem (gemmakschofield@hotmail.com) - 20/Apr/2003 7:31:12 PM

scared () - 26/May/2003 8:53:20 PM

i have 1 question.........wot the hell is going on with the underbite picture, eithers its a fake month or some one had a really hot curry
() - 29/May/2003 11:45:34 PM

lol thats funny... yea i think its a fake
() - 30/May/2003 3:07:22 AM

Hey this is for everyone who is asking about if it is okay to wear rubber bands only part-time. I have asked my ortho. about that, and he said that if he tells you to wear them all the time (some ppl who dont need them very badly only need to wear them at night), then that means like 22 of 24 hrs a day (2 hrs for eating your meals and such). And yes, you must wear them while you sleep. (breathe through your nose ;) )
pm () - 05/Jun/2003 8:51:34 PM

OK here's one. My ortho wants to set me up with lots of elastics, going all over the place, incluging four up and down in front. These will "settle" my bite, he says. Is this done? How do you put up with it?
Rika () - 09/Jun/2003 2:13:18 AM

u just deal with it...nuthin much more to say unless u want coil springz wired in...(i wouldnt) i havent had 2 have them yet but then again ive only had my braces 6 months....ive tried sum of my friendz elastics on and it felt like pressure but its ok
Maya () - 12/Jun/2003 6:31:51 PM

Ive been wearin rubberbands for quite awhile now because i have an overbite.. my orthodonist sais all get them off when the elastics are working and are in place.. are they supoesd to be perfectly alligned? because my teeth are almost perftcly allighned but not quite.. could i still get them off like that?
() - 20/Jul/2003 1:44:22 AM

I think everyone who needs braces should get headgear- you can choose which kind you get
stephy () - 20/Jul/2003 5:07:08 PM

how is your bite suppose to be? i think that mine is not correctly positioned. i had braces and elastics but now i have the retainer and when i wake up in the morning my bite feels different. is this normal?
jack () - 21/Jul/2003 9:26:34 PM

hi i have 12 elastics for an underbite!! they realy hurt and i can't eat propley. I have 2 also wear a reverse headhear but i love that!! Braces rule!!

Chris () - 12/Aug/2003 3:43:51 PM

How many elastics is it "usual" to wear. Are there any horror stories like lots and lots?
retainer fan () - 13/Aug/2003 3:57:52 AM

The usual amount of elastics is two our sometimes four for normal. But I have heard of someone having 12! Sometimes people have odd numbers like 1 or 3 too!!
cina2k3 () - 21/Aug/2003 11:41:08 PM

Well, I'm toward the end of my treatment, and that's when doctors usually make you where elastics. As for the animals on the bands cover, there are different types of animals for the different types of rubberbands (there are all types of rubberbands) One of them I where is really small and tight with a impala on it and I have to where it in a triangular motion. The other pack has an ostrich on it and I have to zigzag it around three teeth. It's to bring the bite down.
ü () - 22/Aug/2003 3:20:58 PM

Poll: Which do you think is FASTER??? Or can lessen the treatment time?headgear or elastics? please replyü
Erika () - 23/Aug/2003 6:07:08 PM

15 days!
matt () - 25/Aug/2003 1:07:30 PM

is there such a thing as flavored ruber bands
allie () - 04/Sep/2003 3:24:02 AM

i am getting elastics in 3 days and i want to know if they hurt my cousin said they gave her a headache
Justin () - 04/Sep/2003 9:06:20 PM

My Elastics don't hurt anymore. They did at first and I had a migrane for like a day. I only wear them at night now because I was a good boy and wore them all the time :). I have to wear a cervical headgear thing when I get these out though :( . My orthodontist makes me put them in all around my mouth, I can't open it much at night bcuz of the elastics.
stephy () - 07/Sep/2003 1:25:33 AM

what can be considered as an overbite. if my front upper teeth cover my front lower teeth and my treatment is done is it ok? and if the "gap" is like 2-3 mm, do i need braces again or is it like normal that your front teeth are like that? plz answere i just want to know!
roxy (flirt1824@hotmail.com) - 09/Sep/2003 10:26:02 PM

hey i have had my braces for 2 years now!! i have had to wear rubber bands for along time but i never did cuz it hurtso more then people would expect i wear the bands from the very from 2 teeth to the very back moler!!! i ahev to wear the 24/7 adn its horrible but ofter maybe 3 days there not as bad but i have to live off of mashed potatoes! ill ge them off soon but does anyone know whats next after my over bite is fixed? how long do they still have to stay on for and what exactly is the ortho looking for when u take the bands off?? email me if u know cuz i wont be back on the site!!! thanks alot to anyone who knows
Stephen (srngl7@aol.com) - 10/Sep/2003 7:31:25 PM

I have a deep overbite. I only have 1mm of space! My midline is also not vertically aligned =\. Oh well, that's why I'm getting braces. So I can fix it. I'll have a good looking smile to fit my good looking face that goes w/my good looking body. lol =P
