Applying for the JLPT differs on where you want to take it.

Taking the test in Japan

Getting an application form

To apply for the test in Japan, you must buy an application form.
You can get an application form (for 500 yen) from any big international bookshop (Such as Kinokuniya).

In addition, you can order it online from one of these shops: ...and on the phone (In Japan): If you're having trouble getting a form (and you're in Japan), I can buy one and post one to you. (Though I'll charge you something for the hassle of me going to Shinjuku.) Contact me.

When and where you can take it

If you are in Japan, you can take N1 and N2 in July. (In addition to the normal December test for all levels.)

The JLPT happens all over Japan. There are many sites in Tokyo as well as Kyoto and Osaka. (I keep taking it at Meiji University, but I'm not sure how the site is chosen for you.)

Taking the test outside Japan

If you're not in Japan, you'll need to contact the examination centre directly. I've listed the sites below.
