申し訳ない (もうしわけない) - N2 vocabulary
inexcusable

• いろいろお手数をかけて申し訳ない。 I'm sorry to give you all this trouble.


• かわりに「ある程度」「多くの」「しばしば」という言葉を使い、「私の経験では」「間違っていたら申し訳ないのですが」「多くの例では」のような言葉を皮切りに話を始めなさい。 Instead use words like "some", "many", "often", and begin statements with openers like, "In my experience, ...", "Excuse me if I'm wrong, but...", "In many instances, ...."


• こんなことになってしまって申し訳ない。 I'm sorry it worked out this way.


• それは申し訳ない。 That is all right.


• ほんとに申し訳ないです。 It is truly regrettable.


• 過失を犯してしまい、まことに申し訳ないです。 I feel terrible about my mistake.


• 申し訳ないが、ついさっきまで君をうそつきだと思っていた。 I'm sorry that I had been viewing you as a liar until just a few minutes ago.


• 申し訳ないけど、できません。 I'm sorry, but it's impossible.


• 申し訳ないけど長居できないんですよ。 I'm sorry, I can't stay long.


• 申し訳ないんだけど、あなたが貸して下さった本が見つからないのよ。 I'm sorry, but I can't find the book you lent me.


• 遅れて申し訳ない。 Sorry to be late.


• 彼女が少しも申し訳ないと思っていなかったので、かれはいっそう怒った。 He was all the more angry because she wasn't in the least sorry.


• 本当に申し訳ないのですが、私はあなたの傘をなくしたらしいのです。 I'm very sorry, but I seem to have lost your umbrella.
